Pine Meadows Tree Farms is a family owned and operated nursery and tree farm located in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
Having bought two acres and 2,000 Scotch Pine Christmas tree seedlings in 1970, our father Arthur Loewen started the family nursery business while working full-time as a math teacher at Hatzic Secondary School.
Family Tree Farm – For The Love Of Farming
The first year was a disaster, but Arthur persevered and replanted. He learned about fertilizers, what to plant between the rows of trees, shearing and cutting off leaders. Combining this with the area’s quality well water and some of the best soil for making rootballs – he found the right ingredients for growing healthy Christmas trees and nursery stock!
By the 1980s, Arthur had the whole family involved in farming and being active outside with 40 acres in trees and shrubs.
Making Christmas Memories With A Fresh Real Tree
When the first set of Christmas trees was ready for market, Arthur wanted to do more than sell his trees for wholesale. He opened up the family barn for U-Cut and Fresh-Cut Christmas trees to the public in 1975. Today it’s a Loewen Family tradition.
Each November is more than harvest time in Arthur’s eyes. Families from Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Langley and beyond come to the original family farm to pick their perfect Christmas tree.
Second Generation Takes Over The Family Farm & Expands Nursery Production
Adding another 40 acres in 1994, Arthur was getting close to retirement. Despite all the hard work on the tree farm, he wouldn’t give up teaching.
Arthur’s youngest son Tim grew up with a love for farming. After high school, Tim left British Columbia to attend the University of Manitoba. While going to school and working part-time on his uncle’s grain farm, Tim earned a degree in Agriculture Business Management.
Farming was in his blood, but trees was his love, so Tim returned to Chilliwack to take over the farm. Together, Tim and Arthur run Pine Meadows Tree Farms.

Annual Christmas Fresh & U-Cut Tree Farm Market – A Pine Meadows Tradition
The Christmas Tree Farm is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at 47036 Prairie Central Road (3 km east of Cottonwood Mall) from the third week in November to December 23. Don’t forget to bring your boots for your adventure to find your perfect family tree! We look forward to seeing you at the farm.
